Playgroup

Starting after the Winter break, we will once again be offering playgroups. These will be for children who are not old enough to attend Kindergarten. We plan to offer a range of different playgroups, for different ages. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult. Full details will be announced soon.

Early Starters Playgroup

This Playgroup is for children aged 12-18 months, accompanied by an adult (parent or helper).

It is an opportunity to experience our Kindergarten surroundings and facilities, for the children to play together and socialise, and for their carers to learn some new ideas to use at home.

The Playgroup will be led by one of our teachers who is experienced in the care of young children.  A variety of games, songs and activities will be demonstrated that can be built on at home. In each session there will be a mix of free choice and whole group activities. We encourage parents/helpers to be fully engaged with the children during the sessions; to develop your own skills as well as those of the child.

Music

This Playgroup is for children aged 12-24 months, accompanied by an adult (parent or helper).

The Playgroup will be led by our Music teacher and will take place in the Music room. Children will be introduced to elements of music through a variety of songs and experiences. We encourage parents/helpers to be fully engaged with the children during the sessions.

The Music Playgroup is based on Dr. John M. Feierabend’s “First Steps in Music for Infants and Toddlers” curriculum. This curriculum is designed for children from birth to 36 months old. It combines research-based approaches, quality literature, and practical experience to create a unique learning experience for young children. The curriculum focuses on activities such as listening, singing, and movement to help instil music appreciation from a very young age. The goal is to nurture the development of musical skills and create a foundation for becoming a musical person as the children grow.

This Playgroup is for children aged 24-36 months, accompanied by an adult (parent or helper).

Storytime in the Library

This Playgroup is for children aged 24-36 months, accompanied by an adult (parent or helper).

It is an opportunity to experience our Library setting, develop a love of stories and books, and develop concepts of print and pre reading skills.

The Playgroup will be led by our Library Teacher and will take place in the school Library. We encourage parents/helpers to be fully engaged with the children during the sessions. Each week, children will be able to choose books to take home which can be returned the following week to exchange for new books.
